Description | The Diving Co. (NSW) Pty Ltd is a Sydney based commercial diving contractor with over 50 years of expertise in all aspects of subsea engineering and marine construction. Since 1965 the company has been providing industrial diving services to the marine construction, shipping and submarine cabling industries. The company was founded in 1965 in Narrabeen , Sydney and for many years the company was based at Harbord. The company has been based at its current premises in Seaforth since 1991 which provides office , storage, maintenance and fabrication facilities for plant and equipment. The company has a long history of providing diving services throughout Australia to a number of private corporations as well as government departments and instrumentalities. The current company directors Simon Guthrie and Mark Dowd each have in excess of 40 year’s experience in the commercial diving industry and have been directors of the company for over 25 years. Simon GuthrieDirector Simon has been with the company since 1982 having had extensive experience as a saturation diver (ADAS Part4) for numerous companies throughout the world in the offshore oil and gas industry. Simon gained invaluable experience working as a saturation diver for Oceaneering International, Comex and a variety of other companies in The Bass Strait, The Middle East and South East Asia. Simon has been the President of the ADCA (Australian Diving Contractors Association) , a member of the Australian Standards Committee for commercial diving as well as a founding board member of the Australian Underwater Training Centre. Mark DowdDirector Mark started his diving career in the Royal Australian Navy Clearance Diving Branch in 1973. He spent operational time in Clearance Diving Teams 1 and 2. Following his RAN career Mark gained extensive experience within the onshore civil construction diving industry before working as a saturation diver in the oil and gas industry both in Australia and overseas. Mark has worked for companies such as Oceaneering International and Comex gaining invaluable knowledge of both complex deep diving systems and underwater engineering and construction projects associated with the oil and gas sector including construction and maintenance of offshore oil platforms, installations and pipelines. Rob HardingOperations Manager Rob has worked for the Diving Co. since 1993. With a background as a coded welder having gained extensive experience in both Australia and Europe as a pipeline welder and fitter as well as general engineering experience in ship maintenance , fabrication, and in the oil and gas industry, Rob is responsible for company operations as well as all planned maintenance. Having worked as a diver and diving supervisor for the company since 1993, Rob has also worked as a saturation technician in the offshore oil and gas sector for Subsea 7, Technip and Dofsubsea both in Australia and overseas. Diving PersonnelThe provision of highly skilled, experienced and certified personnel is the key to performing a diverse range of marine and subsea operations in an efficient and timely manner. In addition to decades of experience the company is able to field diving crews with capabilities in mixed gas diving, wet welding, ultrathermic cutting, rigging, Non-destructive testing and inspection work , bridge and wharf carpentry , subsea explosives to name a few. These sub surface skills are augmented by providing personnel with trade based skills as well as extensive seamanship and vessel operator certifications. ConsultancyThe teams expert global experience has been utilised on numerous occasions to provide oversight and management of submarine cable shore end landings and cable trenching operations domestically in Australia as well as USA, Japan and China. Safety, Health, Environment and Quality ManagementThe company uses robust and proactive integrated Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) management systems. These help us to drive continuous improvement while meeting external accreditation requirements. Diving Operations are compliant to or exceed AS/NZS2299.1-2015 and personnel are qualified to ADAS standards. |
